at No. 7 Wisconsin 45, Citadel 31: Running back P.J. Hill tied a school record with five touchdowns at Madison as the Badgers (3-0) extended the nation’s longest active winning streak to 12 games. The teams were tied, 21-21, at halftime before Wisconsin pulled away. Hill had all three of the Badgers’ touchdowns in the first half -- then scored his fourth of the day on the first drive in the second half to give Wisconsin a 28-21 lead.

at No. 12 Penn State 45, Buffalo 24: Anthony Morelli completed 20 of 27 passes for 202 yards and a career-high four touchdowns -- two to Andrew Quarless -- and Rodney Kinlaw ran for 129 yards and a score as the Nittany Lions (3-0) defeated the Bulls (1-2) at State College. Quarterback Drew Willy was 28 of 39 for two scores and a career-high 330 yards for Buffalo.

at Florida Atlantic 42, Minnesota 39: Rusty Smith threw for 463 yards and five touchdowns, and the Owls (2-1) forced seven turnovers to beat the Gophers (1-2) at Miami. It was the first victory for Florida Atlantic against a Big Ten Conference team. Minnesota fell to 10-1 against Sun Belt Conference teams.

at Michigan State 17, Pittsburgh 13: Jehuu Caulcrick rushed for a touchdown and Travis Key ran back an interception 31 yards for a score to help the Spartans (3-0) beat the Panthers (2-1) at East Lansing.

at Purdue 45, Central Michigan 22: Curtis Painter passed for 360 yards and three touchdowns, and the Boilermakers (3-0) defeated the Chippewas (1-2) at West Lafayette, Ind. Painter completed 29 of 39 passes. He has 13 touchdown passes and no interceptions this season.

at Indiana 41, Akron 24: Quarterback Kellen Lewis rushed for a career-high 199 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Hoosiers on three second-half scoring drives to beat the Zips (1-2) at Bloomington and their first 3-0 start since 1995.

Duke 20, at Northwestern 14: Thaddeus Lewis passed for 246 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Blue Devils (1-2) over the Wildcats (2-1) at Evanston, Ill., and end the nation’s longest losing streak at 22 games.
