Browns… 51 Bengals… 45
CLEVELAND -- Derek Anderson threw five touchdown passes, Jamal Lewis rushed for 216 yards and the Cleveland Browns, so desperate after losing their home opener they traded their starting quarterback, Sunday outlasted the Cincinnati Bengals, 51-45.
Carson Palmer tossed a career-high six touchdown passes, but his final chance to rally the Bengals (1-1) ended when his pass was intercepted with 21 seconds to play.
The previous week, Anderson was backing up Charlie Frye before being brought in the first half when the Browns (1-1) were being blown out en route to a 34-7 loss to Pittsburgh.
Two days later, Frye was dealt to Seattle.
Quoteworthy: “This is one of the tougher losses. I thought we had this win. I feel like I’m mourning over a loss.” -- Carson Palmer, Bengals quarterback
