* Philadelphia 5, at St. Louis 4: Shane Victorino’s three-run home run capped a four-run eighth inning and Brad Lidge survived a shaky ninth to stay perfect in save situations. Troy Glaus homered off the left-field foul pole to start the ninth against Lidge. The Cardinals then loaded the bases with one out, but Lidge struck out rookies Nick Stavinoha and Joe Mather for his 28th save in 28 chances.

* at Washington 4, Cincinnati 2: Lastings Milledge hit his ninth homer for the Nationals, who had lost nine in a row before sweeping three from the Reds.

* at Atlanta 5, Milwaukee 0: Jorge Campillo shut out Milwaukee for seven innings and the Braves avoided a series sweep. Ben Sheets (10-5) fell to 1-4 in seven starts since a victory in Atlanta on June 24.

* Colorado 3, at Florida 2: Pinch-hitter Seth Smith drove in the winning run with a single in the ninth inning and closer Brian Fuentes retired Jorge Cantu and Josh Willingham with the bases loaded in the ninth for his 20th save in 24 chances.
