Investigators are trying to determine who struck and killed a woman on the 10 Freeway early Saturday morning.

The incident occurred about 2 a.m. when a woman driving east in a black 2007 Lexus struck the freeway’s center divider, said Officer Francisco Villalobos of the California Highway Patrol. He said the woman apparently got out of her car and then was hit.

Villalobos said there were no other occupants in the woman’s car. Investigators have no description of the hit-and-run driver’s vehicle, but callers reported seeing a pickup truck in the area about the time the woman was killed, he said.

The freeway was shut down for several hours.

Coroner’s officials said they were waiting for a fingerprint identification of the woman before releasing her name.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call the CHP’s East Los Angeles station at (323) 980-4600.
