Tracking the changes
Re “The fast track to change,” Nov. 30
So the light rail will go east from Little Tokyo to Indiana Street. Been there, done that.
About 60 years ago, we took the yellow P-line streetcar on that route coming home from church on Sundays.
Where the light rail will jog south on Indiana, we would change to a small, open-sided streetcar that ran from 1st Street to Whittier Boulevard. Ah, nostalgia.

This came across as a little hypocritical to me. Some in the predominantly Latino community of Boyle Heights don’t want outsiders to move in and change its character?
I can only imagine all the accusations of racism had this been a story about a white community not wanting outsiders moving in. I guess diversity is only welcome in the case of poor people moving into affluent areas and not vice versa.
