PUC postpones Expo Line vote
State officials Thursday delayed making a decision on whether to approve two key rail crossings along the Expo Line light-rail line in South Los Angeles.
The five-member California Public Utilities Commission will instead take up the matter at its Dec. 18 meeting. The delay was to give commissioners more time to study the issue.
The Expo Line Construction Authority, which is building the line, wants to build two street-level crossings next to Foshay Learning Center and Dorsey High School in South L.A. School officials and some residents say that would pose a danger to students. Among the additional safety features they are seeking is to have the tracks placed in a tunnel or rail bridge.
