Pepper or assault?

As always, Bill Plaschke looks at the world through baby-blue-colored glasses [“Bruins live to fight another day next fall,” Dec. 7]. He claims the Bruins are back as evidenced by their “peppering” of Mark Sanchez and making him leave the game for a play. I could knock out Sanchez too if I hit him as late as the Bruins did, causing a number of personal fouls. That isn’t “peppering,” it’s called “cheap shots.”

Not only is L.A. not a Bruins town, as Plaschke claimed a few years ago, but neither is Pasadena.

Every year at this time you hear the same old complaining from Trojans fans about the BCS rankings. The truth is, they lost to Oregon State and deserve to be ranked No. 5 . . . in the NFC West.

I just watched the USC-UCLA kickoff and saw the required penalty on USC and timeout by UCLA. The thought that came to mind was that this is a great mix of showmanship, sportsmanship and fun.

This is also why the Greater Los Angeles area does not need an NFL team.

I’m no Penn State fan, but Bill Plaschke’s matter-of-fact claim that USC will “dominate” the Nittany Lions is once again based no doubt on his razor-sharp grasp on facts and his room-temperature IQ. Am I wrong or did USC lose to a team that Penn State blew out? Attaboy, Bill, babble on for old SC.
