Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo returned to work Thursday, going through practice a day after being sent home because of flu-like symptoms.

Romo shuffled through the hallway on his way to a quarterbacks meeting before the workout. Asked whether he felt better, Romo said, “Oh, yeah. I feel like a hundred dollars.”

The Cowboys (9-6) close out the regular season Sunday in Philadelphia. Dallas gets a wild-card playoff spot with a victory.

Singletary expected to keep 49ers job

The Sacramento Bee is reporting that, according to a source close to the situation, the San Francisco 49ers plan to offer a multiyear contract to interim Coach Mike Singletary shortly after the team ends its season with Sunday’s game against the Washington Redskins.

NFL teams cannot sign interim coaches during the season under the league’s Rooney Rule, which requires teams to interview at least one minority candidate, but the 49ers do not have to bring in more candidates if they plan to take the interim tag off Singletary.

On Wednesday, Singletary acknowledged that he had met with the team’s top officials about his future earlier in the week.
