Help is sought in identifying body

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office is seeking help in identifying the body of a young man found stabbed to death last week along the 118 Freeway.

Highway cleanup crews found the body early in the morning on Jan. 19. Chief coroner’s investigator Craig Harvey said the body appears to be that of a Latino man about 18 to 24 years old, about 5 feet 8 and weighing 185 pounds.

The victim apparently had been lying near the highway for at least a day, but Harvey said he may have been killed elsewhere and dumped there. Investigators have found no missing persons reports that match up with victim.

“Nobody has inquired about him,” Harvey said. “It’s very unusual to have someone that young and not have people looking for him.”

Anyone with information that could identify the man is asked to call the county coroner’s investigations unit at (323) 343-0714.
