Pacific edges Northridge to force tie atop Big West

Pacific moved into a tie with Cal State Northridge atop the Big West Conference as Chad Troyer scored a career-high 30 points in a 78-73 overtime victory Thursday night that kept the Matadors winless at Stockton dating to 1971.

Pacific, 16-6 overall and 7-2 in the conference, prevailed after 11 ties and 17 lead changes. Northridge fell to 15-6, 7-2.

Northridge led, 69-67, with two seconds left in regulation but Jonathan Heard missed two free throws and Pacific’s Michael Kirby made a tying jumper at the buzzer.

UC Santa Barbara 83, Cal State Fullerton 80 -- Alex Harris scored 24 points to help the Gauchos (17-5, 6-3 Big West) hold off the Titans (14-7, 7-3).

Marcus Crenshaw scored 21 of his 23 points in the second half for the Titans but missed a three-pointer at the buzzer.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 57, UC Irvine 56 -- Matt Hanson’s free throw with 1.4 seconds left lifted the Mustangs (9-12, 4-5 Big West) past the Anteaters (9-13, 4-5).

Cal State Long Beach 63, UC Davis 52 -- Donovan Morris scored 26 points to lead the 49ers (5-16, 2-7 Big West) past the Aggies (8-14, 2-7).
