Holiday, Lee and five others will play in McDonald’s games

Seven players from Southern California have been chosen to play in the McDonald’s All-American basketball games on March 26 in Milwaukee.

Among the boys’ selections are UCLA-bound Jrue Holiday from North Hollywood Campbell Hall and Malcom Lee from Riverside North, USC-bound DeMar DeRozan from Compton and North Carolina-bound Larry Drew Jr. from Woodland Hills Taft.

Chosen for the girls’ game are Jasmine Dixon from Long Beach Poly and Nikki Speed from Los Angeles Marlborough. Both have signed with Rutgers.

Also selected to play for the West boys’ team was Brandon Jennings of Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill Academy. The Los Angeles native played at Compton Dominguez before transferring.

The City Section is close to reaching agreement to hold its boys’ basketball semifinal playoff games as a doubleheader Friday at USC’s Galen Center.

The City Championship Division semifinal games would be played at 6 and 8 p.m. Tonight’s quarterfinals are: Dorsey (17-7) at Woodland Hills Taft (22-3), Reseda Cleveland (20-7) at Fremont (20-6), Washington (23-4) at Fairfax (23-4) and Crenshaw (17-6) at Westchester (27-3). All games begin at 7 p.m.
