The Boston Red Sox came to terms Monday on a minor league contract with right-hander Bartolo Colon, 34, the 2005 American League Cy Young Award winner who last pitched Feb. 6 in the Caribbean World Series.

The team’s medical staff will evaluate the 2005 American League Cy Young Award winner and two-time All-Star, who was 7-13 with a 5.72 earned-run average while slowed by shoulder and elbow injuries the last two seasons with the Angels.

If Colon is added to Boston’s 40-man roster, he would get a $1.2-million, one-year contract and have the chance to earn performance and roster bonuses.
