From Times Staff and Wire Reports
William “Rooster” Andrews, 84, a diminutive University of Texas team manager and water boy who became part of Longhorn football lore, died of respiratory failure Monday in Austin, Texas.
Andrews, just under 5 feet tall and 130 pounds, drop-kicked four extra points in a 46-7 Texas blowout victory over Texas Christian in 1943.
He lettered in football and baseball and went on to a successful career as a sporting goods salesman.
