at Arizona 6, Milwaukee 5: Conor Jackson’s two-run single capped a six-run ninth inning. Three Brewers pitchers failed to record an out as seven Diamondbacks in a row reached base in the ninth. Salomon Torres (4-2) blew his third save in 18 chances. Milwaukee’s J.J. Hardy homered, doubled twice and singled to match his career high for hits.

at San Francisco 8, Chicago 3: Tim Lincecum increased his NL-leading strikeout total to 122 with eight in six innings and singled in a run and scored. Rich Aurilia hit a three-run homer in the seventh, his third career pinch-hit homer. Lincecum (10-1) gave up seven hits and three runs.

Philadelphia 4, at Atlanta 1: Cole Hamels came within one out of his second shutout of the Braves this season. Hamels gave up his only run with two outs in the ninth. Tom Gordon retired Jeff Francoeur for his second save. Chase Utley, Ryan Howard and Pedro Feliz hit home runs.

at Cincinnati 5, Washington 3: Brandon Phillips had three hits and three runs batted in. Francisco Cordero pitched a perfect ninth for his 16th save in 19 opportunities and first since June 25.

New York 11, at St. Louis 1: Jose Reyes’ bases-clearing triple keyed a six-run third inning. Carlos Delgado had a two-run homer and three RBIs as the Mets pounded rookie Mitchell Boggs (3-1), who gave up 11 runs, 10 hits, six walks and two wild pitches in six innings. No relievers even warmed up while Boggs faced 10 batters in the third as the Mets went ahead, 9-0.

at Colorado 6, Florida 5 (11 innings): Ryan Spilborghs’ two-run single off Kevin Gregg with one out in the 11th inning rallied the Rockies. Gregg (6-3) walked Yorvit Torrealba leading off and then overthrew first base on Scott Podsednik’s attempted sacrifice bunt, putting runners at second and third. Troy Tulowitzki walked to load the bases. After a fielder’s choice, Spilborghs sent a fastball into the left-center field gap.

Dodgers 5, at Houston 2: Chad Billingsley pitched eight strong innings and Andre Ethier homered for the second game in a row.
