A big week’s coming up for Edgar Wright, a Londoner now living part-time in the Hollywood Hills. On Tuesday, the director and co-writer of “Shaun of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz” welcomes the DVD release of “Spaced,” the British TV show starring frequent collaborator Simon Pegg. Wright and Pegg will sign copies of the disc Wednesday from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Laser Blazer in L.A., and at 7, there will be a free screening at the ArcLight on Sunset.

BIG SCREEN I’m not a typical British expat who tries to do things here that he can’t do so well at home, like lie on a sunny beach or drive around in a convertible. But I’m a movie nut, so I can get excited just going to the theater. The New Beverly near La Brea is one of my favorites. They let me curate a film festival, and it was one of the most fun things I’ve ever done. I go there to see movies that really lend themselves to that vibe and style. And now I get free concessions whenever I go there. My Junior Mints will always be free.

MOVIELAND I like the ArcLight too, because it’s the flip side of the New Beverly. You go there to see the movies that aren’t a good fit for the old rep cinemas. I like the Silent Movie Theatre on Fairfax, which has really interesting programming; the Fairfax Cinemas on Fairfax and Beverly for great midnight-type movies; and the Hollywood Forever Cemetery screenings. Grauman’s Chinese is great for opening-weekend action movies.

HOLDING COURT As far as just a place to hang out, I like the Chateau Marmont; I stayed for six weeks once and got absolutely no work done because there’s always someone you know there. I always meet interesting people at Karma Coffeehouse, and it’s near Amoeba Records too. And Bar Lubitsch in West Hollywood is a great place to meet for drinks.

IF POPCORN WON’T DO You don’t get a lot of Mexican food in London, and Quentin Tarantino put me onto the Gardens of Taxco in West Hollywood, and El Compadre on Sunset is a cool place. For breakfast, I love French toast at the Griddle, but I’ve been on a health kick, so maybe I’d have an egg white omelet at the Village Coffee Shop in Beachwood Canyon.
