Here’s my Underrated offering: tortilla mix. Besides being cheap, the advantage is that you can keep the bag at home and make a tortilla when you want it; you don’t have to go out and buy a set quantity of already-made tortillas in a bag. And it’s fun to get your hands on, you feel like a cook.
Overrated: Knott’s Berry Farm. Maybe it has changed, but I remember going there as a kid, and it was a long way to drive to eat berry pie. Nowadays I might ask, what are roller coasters doing on a farm?
