at Philadelphia 8, Boston 2: Ryan Howard homered twice and Jimmy Rollins also connected to back another strong outing by Cole Hamels in an interleague matchup of division leaders. Howard had his second multihomer game in four days and is tied for second in the NL with 19 homers and tied for first in runs batted in with 62. But Howard is batting only .224.

Florida 6, at Seattle 1: Andrew Miller limited the Mariners to one run and six hits over seven innings and the Mariners lost their eighth straight at home, their longest home losing streak in nearly 12 years. Miller (5-5) matched his career high by pitching seven innings and won for the first time in his last five starts. Luis Gonzalez drove in two runs for the Marlins.

at San Francisco 8, Detroit 6: John Bowker hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the eighth inning and the Giants won their first interleague game in seven tries this season. Marcus Thames homered twice and drove in three runs for the Tigers, who had their season-best winning streak end at six games.

Atlanta 7, at Colorado 1: Chipper Jones hit a two-run single in the fifth to break open a scoreless game and Jair Jurrjens pitched into the eighth inning without giving up a run. Jones, mired in a two-for-15 slump before Monday, was two for four with a walk, raising his average a point to .403. Ubaldo Jimenez (1-7) tied a career high with five walks over five innings. He hasn’t won since April 8 against Atlanta, a span of 13 starts.

New York Mets 9, at Angels 6: Carlos Beltran homered his first two times up and Mike Pelfrey won for the first time in 11 starts.
