Milwaukee 4, at Chicago 3: Ryan Braun hit a two-run double off Kerry Wood during a three-run ninth inning. Wood blew his third save in seven chances and wasted a fine performance by Carlos Zambrano, who pitched 6 1/3 solid innings and hit his 13th homer -- tying the team record for pitchers held by Ferguson Jenkins.
at Philadelphia 3, San Diego 2: Ryan Howard hit a tiebreaking solo homer in the eighth inning. Tom Gordon pitched a perfect eighth and Brad Lidge retired the side in the ninth for his seventh save in as many chances. He hasn’t yielded an earned run in 12 innings.
at Washington 3, Pittsburgh 2: Austin Kearns broke a tie with a two-out single in the eighth inning and the Nationals extended their winning streak to a season-high four games.
Dodgers 5, at Florida 3: The Dodgers have won six games in a row, their longest streak since winning seven straight to close the 2006 season.
