COMMERCE CITY, Colo. -- Jesse Marsch and Jorge Flores scored goals for Chivas USA, which withstood a late Colorado Rapids rally to post a 2-1 victory Saturday night at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

Chivas USA (3-4-2) has won consecutive games after enduring an 0-4-1 stretch. The Rapids (4-5-0) began the game leading the Western Conference but still are seeking their first consecutive victories this season.

Marsch scored his third goal this season just before halftime, taking a pass from Justin Braun inside the penalty area before beating goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul.

Chivas USA went ahead, 2-0, in the 79th minute on a header by Flores, but the Rapids answered one minute later when Tom McManus blasted home his second goal this season from about 30 yards.

Chivas USA also received a strong defensive effort from Pablo Nagamura, who marked midfielder Christian Gomez throughout the game. Gomez, the 2006 MLS most valuable player, had one goal and three assists in the previous three games but was unable to break free from Nagamura.
