EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Rested and rusty after a bye week, the New York Jets made just enough plays to beat the winless Cincinnati Bengals.

Thomas Jones ran for two touchdowns, including a one-yarder late in the game, and caught a pass from Brett Favre for a score as the Jets beat the Bengals, 26-14.

The Jets (3-2), under Coach Eric Mangini, improved to 3-0 in games after a week off, but this one was far from easy. With New York holding a 20-14 lead late in the game, the Jets needed a 10-play, 41-yard drive by Favre that ate up the clock and sealed the victory over the Bengals (0-6).

Favre finished 25 for 33 for 189 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Jones finished with 17 carries for 65 yards and had his first three-touchdown game for the Jets, wearing their navy-and-gold throwback Titans uniforms for the second straight game.

Cincinnati dropped to 0-6 for the third time since 2000.
