Michigan State’s Javon Ringer, the nation’s leading rusher, Texas Tech’s Graham Harrell, the nation’s passing leader, and Florida’s Tim Tebow, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, each had special games Saturday. But Texas quarterback Colt McCoy played well enough to maintain his role as front-runner for this year’s award. A look at their performances and those of other Heisman hopefuls:

COLT MCCOY, junior quarterback, Texas:

McCoy may have put up impressive numbers, but he had an interception and a fumble in the fourth quarter of the Longhorns’ win over Oklahoma State. Stats: 38 of 45 passing for 391 yards, two touchdowns and one interception; 10 carries for 41 yards and one touchdown rushing.

GRAHAM HARRELL, senior quarterback, Texas Tech:

Kansas’ secondary never had a chance against Harrell and the Red Raiders’ high-volume passing game. Stats: 34 of 42 for 386 yards passing, five touchdowns; seven carries for 14 yards and one touchdown rushing.

JAVON RINGER, senior running back, Michigan State:

When the Spartans needed the Ringer the most, he answered the call in a road victory over Michigan. Stats: 37 carries for 94 yards, two touchdowns; two catches for 25 yards.

SAM BRADFORD, sophomore quarterback, Oklahoma:

It’s a big mystery why Bradford struggled in the second half (one of nine for 33 yards) of the Sooners’ blowout victory over Kansas State. Stats: 13 of 32 passing for 255 yards, three touchdowns.

TIM TEBOW, junior quarterback, Florida:

Tebow did not have to do much and he still accounted for four touchdowns in a win over Kentucky. Stats: 11 of 15 passing for 180 yards, two touchdowns and one interception; nine carries for 48 yards rushing, two touchdowns.

CHASE DANIEL, senior quarterback, Missouri:

Daniel may be considered a Heisman long shot, but he dominated Colorado, which could not stop the Tigers. Stats: 31 of 37 passing for 302 yards, five touchdowns and one interception; five carries for 34 yards rushing.
