Hiker’s body found in a rocky canyon
Searchers on Sunday found the body of a hiker last seen nearly a week ago in a rugged canyon in San Bernardino County, according to a sheriff’s spokeswoman.
Tony Jacquet, 35, who had moved to Forest Falls recently from Chino, was found dead at 10:50 a.m. in steep, rocky and unstable terrain on the north side of Mill Creek Canyon, said sheriff’s spokeswoman Jodi Miller.
A Norco man who had seen Jacquet on Monday helped searchers locate his body, Miller said.
Jacquet went for a hike Monday with his German shepherd in the Big Falls and Falls Creek area, Miller said. The dog returned alone Tuesday and neighbors reported his owner missing.
Jacquet required daily medication, according to the sheriff’s department.
The cause of death was under investigation.
