Man, 20, killed in drive-by shooting
A drive-by shooting left one man dead Monday, and police said the killing may be gang-related.
Police received a call at 6:45 a.m. of shots being fired from a moving vehicle in the 600 block of North Bewley Street, said Santa Ana Police Cpl. Jose Gonzalez. When officers arrived, they found a man lying in the street in front of a church, with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and a leg.
The victim, Fernando Lagunas, 20, of Santa Ana was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center, where he died, Gonzalez said.
Witnesses told police they saw a gray or silver sedan with multiple occupants flee the scene, Gonzalez said.
“At this point, there is very little information regarding the suspects in this case,” Gonzalez said.
Anyone with information can call the Santa Ana Police Department’s gang homicide unit at (714) 245-8648.
