Michigan State running back Javon Ringer had another impressive game and Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel broke a few more records to highlight the performances of some of the players in the early race for the Heisman Trophy. A look at their efforts and those of other hopefuls:
CHASE DANIEL, senior quarterback, Missouri
Daniel passed for a career-high 439 yards and set a Big 12 Conference record with 20 consecutive completions in the Tigers’ win over Buffalo. Stats: 36 for 43 passing for 439 yards and two touchdowns.
JAVON RINGER, senior running back, Michigan State
Ringer became the first in school history to rush for at least 200 yards in consecutive games as he led the Spartans to a victory over Notre Dame. Stats: 39 carries for 201 yards and two touchdowns.
TIM TEBOW, junior quarterback, Florida
The reigning Heisman Trophy winner led the Gators to an easy win over Tennessee, but he had a quiet game. Stats: Eight for 15 passing for 96 yards and two touchdowns; 12 carries for 26 yards rushing, no touchdowns.
JEREMY MACLIN, sophomore receiver, Missouri
Maclin had another solid game as he helped the Tigers to an easy win. Stats: 14 catches for 168 yards, two carries for 25 yards and one touchdown, and three combined returns for 33 yards.
SAM BRADFORD, sophomore quarterback, Oklahoma
