Philadelphia 5, at Florida 2: Jamie Moyer (15-7) pitched six sharp innings, Brad Lidge earned his 40th save in 40 chances and Chase Utley hit his 32nd home run to help the first-place Phillies increase their National League East lead over New York to 1 1/2 games.
at Atlanta 7, New York 6: Scott Schoeneweis (2-5) and the Mets’ bullpen blew another late lead, allowing the Braves to rally for four runs in the eighth inning.
Milwaukee 8, at Cincinnati 1: Prince Fielder hit a home run and drove in three runs, and the Brewers won for only the fifth time in 20 games.
at Chicago 5, St. Louis 1: Ryan Dempster (17-6) pitched the Cubs to within one victory of securing home-field advantage throughout the NL playoffs.
Houston 6, at Pittsburgh 2: Roy Oswalt (16-10) held the Pirates to one run in six innings and backup catcher Brad Ausmus drove in two runs for the Astros.
San Diego 6, at Washington 2: Adrian Gonzalez’s 35th home run backed up Cha Seung Baek (6-9), who gave up one run in seven innings.
Arizona 13, at Colorado 4: Chris Young drove in four runs to lead the Diamondbacks, who pulled to within 2 1/2 games of the Dodgers in the NL West.
San Francisco 1, at Dodgers 0 (11 innings): Rich Aurilia hit a two-out run-scoring single to lift the Giants.
