at No. 2 Oklahoma 35, No. 24 Texas Christian 10: Sam Bradford threw for a career-best 411 yards and four touchdowns, Manuel Johnson set a school record with 206 yards receiving and the second-ranked Sooners (4-0) avenged their last loss at Owen Field by beating the Horned Frogs (4-1) at Norman. With top-ranked USC and three other top 10 teams losing, Oklahoma made as strong a case as any team to get back to No. 1 for the first time since it lost to Kansas State in the 2003 Big 12 championship game.

at No. 7 Texas 52, Arkansas 10: Colt McCoy accounted for five touchdowns in another near-perfect start at Austin, and the Longhorns (4-0) routed the Razorbacks (2-2) to hand Coach Bobby Petrino an embarrassing debut in a border rivalry famous for close games. The loss was the most lopsided in the series since a 35-point Texas victory in 1970.

Virginia Tech 35, at Nebraska 30: Darren Evans scored two touchdowns, Dustin Keys kicked four field goals and the Hokies (4-1) held off the Cornhuskers (3-1) at Lincoln. Nebraska got the ball with 25 seconds left, but two plays later Stephan Virgil forced a fumble to secure the win.

at Kansas State 45, Louisiana Lafayette 37: Josh Freeman broke the school’s career yardage record and threw for three touchdowns to help the Wildcats (3-1) beat the Ragin’ Cajuns (1-3) at Manhattan. Freeman completed 21 of 28 passes for 272 yards and has 6,238 career yards to eclipse Lynn Dickey for No. 1 all-time on the Kansas State list.

at Texas A&M; 21, Army 17: Jerrod Johnson threw a touchdown pass after starting quarterback Stephen McGee reinjured his shoulder and the Aggies (2-2) stopped the Black Knights (0-4) on a late fourth down to hold on for the win at College Station. Army has lost 10 consecutive games.

at Oklahoma State 55, Troy 24: Zac Robinson threw three touchdown passes to Dez Bryant, and the Cowboys (4-0) reached 50 points for the third consecutive game after beating the Trojans (2-2) at Stillwater.
