Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s office has scheduled a news conference today to name a new fire chief, sources said.
The new chief will replace Douglas L. Barry, who is retiring at the end of the month.
Several candidates from inside the agency sought to head the 3,586-member department. They included Battalion Chief Millage Peaks, Battalion Chief Pat Butler, Deputy Chief Emile Mack and Assistant Chief Ralph Terrazas, according to sources who asked not to be named.
