The Directors Guild of America announced its nominees Friday for achievement in television, documentaries and commercials for 2008. The winners will be announced Jan. 31 at the 61st annual DGA Awards dinner.

Nominees for the TV movie and miniseries category are Bob Balaban for “Bernard and Doris,” Tom Hooper for “John Adams,” Kenny Leon for “A Raisin in the Sun,” Jay Roach for “Recount” and Mikael Solomon for “The Andromeda Strain.”

Dramatic series nominees are Dan Attias for “The Wire” (“Transitions” episode), Paris Barclay for “In Treatment” (“Alex”), Jack Bender for “Lost” (“The Constant”), Alan Taylor for “Mad Men” (“The Mountain King”) and Matthew Weiner for “Mad Men” (“Mediations in an Emergency”).

Vying in the comedy series category are Paris Barclay for “Weeds” (“The Three Coolers” episode), Julian Farino for “Entourage” (“Tree Trippers”), Paul Feig for “The Office” (“Dinner Party”), Beth McCarthy-Miller for “30 Rock” (“The Reunion: Episode 304”) and Don Scardino for “30 Rock” (“Do Over”).

Documentary film nominees are Gonzalo Arijon for “Stranded: I’ve Come From a Plane That Crashed on the Mountains,” Elizabeth Farnsworth and Patricio Lanfranco for “The Judge and the General,” Ari Folman for “Waltz With Bashir,” Peter Gilbert and Steve James for “At the Death Door House” and James Marsh for “Man on Wire.”
