CALIFORNIA BRIEFING / SAN DIMAS
A man standing near his disabled car on Interstate 210 near the San Dimas Avenue exit was struck and killed Thursday night by a big rig, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The 47-year-old West Covina man had been tending to his car on the right shoulder of the eastbound lanes about 6:40 p.m. when he was hit by a tractor-trailer driven by John Matuguina, 45, of Rancho Cucamonga, said CHP Officer Patrick Kimball.
The motorist, whose name was not released, was treated at the scene and transferred to San Dimas Community Hospital, where he died a short time later, Kimball said.
The accident remains under investigation.
