at Atlanta 7, New York 1: Yunel Escobar had two of his four RBIs in a five-run fifth inning.
at Cincinnati 5, Milwaukee 3: Jonny Gomes hit a tiebreaking, two-run homer in the eighth inning. After the game, the Brewers acquired second baseman Felipe Lopez from Arizona for two minor leaguers. Lopez is hitting .301 with six homers in 85 games.
San Francisco 4, at Pittsburgh 3: Matt Cain held the Pirates to one run over seven innings to outpitch All-Star replacement Zach Duke.
Chicago 11, at Washington 3: Alfonso Soriano’s two-run homer keyed a seven-run fourth inning.
at St. Louis 2, Arizona 1: Joel Pineiro hit a two-run double and pitched seven sharp innings for the Cardinals.
at Dodgers 4, Houston 3: Matt Kemp hit a tiebreaking homer in the eighth.
