Boho stack

Share

Fashion-savvy girls and celebrities such as Nicole Richie, Miley Cyrus and Lindsay Lohan have lately been piling a mix of beaded bracelets, braided strings and gold bangles on their bird-bone wrists for a perfectly grungy look.

On the arms of Young Hollywood, this bohemian melange also functions as evidence of what went on the night before or where the stars are looking for enlightenment, as VIP wristbands mingle with the evil eye, peace symbol and Star of David charms -- the higher the stack, the better.

For the rest of us, the look is better translated as “relaxed” rather than “scrapbook,” and a slightly more subtle stack can be used to offset even the most polished dress, making everything feel effortless, and a lot more summery.

To avoid looking more grunge than glam, pair bracelets that have a similar aesthetic or complement one another. Mix wood beads with delicate metal bangles, say, to add some elegance to a flowing maxi dress and flat, metallic sandals.

The great thing about this jangly boho touch is that you can leave the bracelets on whether you’re in a kicky summer dress or lying out in a bikini. Just watch out for a broad tan line on your forearm.
