State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. is recalling more than 800,000 toy bears given away by the company’s agents because they pose a choking hazard. The insurer received one report of a so-called Good Neigh Bear losing a plastic eye, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said. * Golden Chocolate International Inc. is recalling its Brighton Beach Candy because it might contain walnuts not listed on the label, posing a threat to people with allergies. The candy was distributed to stores, delicatessens and restaurants in California, New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Michigan and Ohio staring in December 2008. * About 930,000 solar system kits and DNA kits, made in the U.S. and China by FloraCraft Corp. of Ludington, Mich., are being recalled because the coating on the kit’s wires can contain high levels of lead. The recall involves kits sold under the FloraCraft and HYGLOSS names. They were sold at Wal-Mart, Michaels, Jo-Ann Stores, Hobby Lobby and other retailers nationwide from January 2003 through last month. Information: (866) 775-8781 and www.cpsc.gov.
* Nordstrom Inc. is recalling 31,000 pairs of girls’ shoes after it found they violated new national standards for lead content. The shoes were made in China with the Nordstrom brands Clarice-Fab, Eva-Fab, Fern-Fab, Lilly-Fab, Rita-Fab and Vivi-Fab. They were sold from September 2006 to February 2009. Consumers can return the shoes for a refund.
