CALIFORNIA BRIEFING / SAN BERNARDINO

Authorities are searching for two men who robbed a San Bernardino home Sunday, tied up a mother and her five children and kidnapped one of them, a 3-year-old boy, a San Bernardino Sheriff’s spokeswoman said.

Armed with handguns, the men entered the home about 2:30 p.m., tied up the family, ransacked the home and took an unspecified amount of cash and property, said spokeswoman Cindy Beavers.

The robbers then took the boy, Briant Rodriguez, warning the family not to call the police, Beavers said.

Both suspects are described as thin, light-skinned Hispanic males. According to Beavers, one is believed to be about 18 years old, 5-feet-8 and wearing blue jeans, a green T-shirt and a black baseball cap. The other is believed to be about 24 years old, 5-feet-10 and wearing a black shirt, black pants and boots, and a white bandanna.

Briant is described as 3 feet tall, about 40 pounds, wearing a yellow shirt with blue sleeves, blue striped shorts and sandals.

“Our biggest concern at this point is Briant’s safety,” Beavers said.

“It’s just a mystery as to why they would take him.”
