It’s thumb kind of game

Share

Staff writer Mike Bresnahan ties up some loose ends on days of Lakers playoff games.

Who’s next?

Who will get ejected in Game 4? I’m glad you asked. Here are my personal odds.

Ron Artest: 1 to 4. No longer a matter of if, but when -- first, second, third or fourth quarter.

Rick Adelman: 3 to 1. He has lost playoff series to the Lakers while coaching the Kings, Trail Blazers, and, soon enough, the Rockets. Don’t underestimate his desire for quiet locker-room solitude if the Lakers take a huge lead.

Von Wafer: 6 to 1. Anything’s possible for a guy who got ejected by his own coach in Game 2.

Kobe Bryant: 10 to 1. If the Lakers somehow start losing big, he could always send a message to teammates that their play is unacceptable.

Rasheed Wallace: 12 to 1. You just never know.

Sun Yue: 1,000,000 to 1. Is he still on the Lakers?

Q&A; of the day

Question: We are still working towards a 2009 championship but that does not mean the truth is not the truth. Andrew Bynum and Luke Walton as well as Sasha Vujacic need to be packaged into some sort of a trade for a real point guard to run the offense. The Lakers will lose this year and if we are lucky the team will stay together except for the above players that need to go.

Answer: Wow. And that was sent after the Lakers won Game 3 . . . on the road . . . by 14 points . . . without one of their starters. I’d hate to get an e-mail from Marty after a Lakers loss.

From the message boards

Posted by rocketice at chron.com, the website for the Houston Chronicle: “We shut the media up when we got out [of] the first round. I am a Rockets fan, and we still have a chance until the Lakers win two more as far as I am concerned.”

Rocketice is right. The Rockets still have a chance . . . until their season ends Tuesday at Staples Center.

Final thought

I just wanted to pat myself on the back for predicting that two-point Lakers loss in Game 3. Thank you, thank you. I just stood up from my desk and took a bow.

As for today, I’ll take the Lakers by a lot. A victory by more than 15 points isn’t out of the question.
