Update: The Galaxy has not won a season series against Columbus since 2003, and considering that the teams have managed only two wins between them in 2009 but have a combined 11 ties, another deadlock is in the cards. The Crew is the defending MLS champion, but it took new Coach Robert Warzycha eight games before he got his first victory, over Kansas City last weekend. The Galaxy is unbeaten in its last six games, five of them ties. “We haven’t lost a game since the second game of the season,” Coach Bruce Arena said. “The problem is, we haven’t won a lot.” English-born Trinidad and Tobago international Chris Birchall, a 25-year-old defensive midfielder, has been training with the Galaxy.
