Vernon police on Monday arrested a man suspected of fatally shooting two people at a local lumberyard, where the alleged gunman and the victims worked.

The suspect, who was not immediately identified, fled after the shootings about 9:40 a.m. at the Bohnhoff Lumber Company in the 3400 block of East 26th Street, police said.

He was arrested after leading police on a brief car chase through Vernon and Huntington Park that came to an end when the suspect’s car crashed, police said.
