He’s got his moves planned

A new generation of the Wayans family has arrived on the showbiz scene, and the latest coming-out party begins tonight with the release of Damien Wayans’ spoof “Dance Flick.”

Wayans, the nephew of Keenen Ivory, Kim and Damon Wayans, directed, co-executive produced and co-wrote the film, which also got one of those two uncles and a slew of other kin involved. Non-Wayans David Alan Grier, Chris Elliott and Essence Atkins managed to get in the movie as well.

Damien’s supporting cast on his weekends, meanwhile, involves smaller groups of friends and family.

--Fridays at the flicks

On a Friday night, I’d go check out a movie at the ArcLight at the Galleria in Sherman Oaks. The movie I’d pick would just depend on my mood. Lately I’ve been going to independents to check out the camera work and technical stuff.

After the movie, I’d go to Mexicali on Ventura. It’s got a young crowd, and they play nice music. You can go and laugh and have a good time. I’d order the nachos, half chicken and half steak with jalapenos all over it, and a side of guacamole.

The sporting life

On Saturday morning, I’d go straight to the gym to work off whatever I had done the night before. I usually go to 24 Hour Fitness, either one in Hollywood or Sherman Oaks. Make sure I get some cardio and ab work in with whatever workout I’m doing, and then I’ll top it off with a protein shake.

I like to go bowling, and a good place is Pickwick in Burbank. It’s not fancy at all, it’s really some modest bowling that you’ll be doing there. You go with some fun people and get yourself some cheap drinks and it’s a good time.

After that, maybe I’ll go to Big Wangs, a sports bar in the North Hollywood district. It’s really cool, they’ve got about 40 video screens, it’s a man’s dream in there. And the wings are great.

Hip sushi

In the evening, I might like Geisha House for dinner. It’s a cool vibe, not too stuffy, really a great atmosphere. Nice food too -- I’d call it hip sushi. And pretty waitresses.

After that, I’d probably check out Les Deux. It’s a Hollywood club, so they’re a little strict at the door at times, but it’s a fun place with lots of energy. It’s a good spot to take people who are from out of town. I like the outdoors part when the weather’s nice.

Sundays at home

On Sunday morning, I’d order some Koo Koo Roo. I love their legs and thighs, cucumber salad and string beans. And then I’d watch sports all day. I love football, and I’ve got an NBA Pass for my TV. My ideal sporting event to see live would be the Lakers versus Celtics on Christmas Day.
