CALIFORNIA BRIEFING / ORINDA

An 18-year-old resident of this Bay Area community has been arrested after his friend collapsed and died at a house party where police say teenagers had been drinking heavily.
Authorities plan an autopsy for 16-year-old Joseph Loudon. The Miramonte High School sophomore was found unconscious Saturday night and taken to a hospital, where he was declared dead.
Patrick Gabrielli III was arrested Sunday on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and giving alcohol to a minor.
He has been released on $5,000 bail and could not be reached for comment.
Orinda Police Chief Bill French says as many as 60 people -- all under 21 -- attended the party hosted by Gabrielli while his mother and stepfather were out of town.
French says police were still trying to determine who provided the alcohol. More arrests could be made, he said.
