Central Florida rallies to defeat Marshall

Brett Hodges threw a one-yard touchdown pass to Rocky Ross with 23 seconds left to give Central Florida a 21-20 victory over Marshall on Sunday night at Orlando, Fla.

Central Florida (5-3, 3-2 Conference USA) scored twice in the final eight minutes to overcome a 20-7 deficit and beat Marshall (5-4, 3-2) for the fifth consecutive time.

Brynn Harvey scored on a two-yard run with 7:51 left to cut the margin to 20-14. The Knights turned the ball over on downs on their next possession but got a break when Marshall quarterback Brian Anderson fumbled on his own 30 with 2:12 left.

Georgia switch?

Georgia Coach Mark Richt isn’t saying whether he plans to bench quarterback Joe Cox, who was yanked from a 41-17 loss to top-ranked Florida after throwing three interceptions.

Injuries

Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder’s bruised ribs were feeling better than he expected. Ponder, who ranks third nationally in total offense per game, was injured early in Saturday’s 45-42 win over North Carolina State but played with the pain. . . . Oklahoma State Coach Mike Gundy won’t shut down starting tailback Kendall Hunter for the season because of a lingering ankle injury. Hunter had missed the Cowboys’ last five games before he had one carry in Saturday’s 41-14 loss to Texas. . . . Auburn strong safety Zac Etheridge probably will be out the rest of the season because of a neck injury suffered against Mississippi.

Ticketed

Nebraska nose tackle Ndamukong Suh has been ticketed for negligent driving after he hit three parked cars on a narrow Lincoln street, police said. Capt. David Beggs said Suh had been drinking before the accident, which occurred at 2:20 a.m. Sunday, but his blood-alcohol level of .035 was well below the legal limit of .08.
