Big East: Syracuse upsets No. 25 Rutgers

at Syracuse 31, No. 25 Rutgers 13: Greg Paulus had 142 yards passing and the Orange earned its first conference victory of the season with an upset of the Scarlet Knights. Syracuse jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Antwon Bailey scored on a 14-yard run and Delone Carter had a five-yard touchdown run. Syracuse outgained Rutgers 259 to 82 in the first half and the defense sacked quarterback Tom Savage five times and nine overall, tying a Syracuse school record.

at South Florida 34, Louisville 22: B.J. Daniels rebounded from the worst game of his young career to throw for 304 yards and run for 141 more to lead the Bulls over the struggling Cardinals. Daniels, shut down in a 31-0 loss to Rutgers last week, threw for one touchdown and ran for two other scores in leading four scoring drives of at least 75 yards. With a combined 445 yards, the redshirt freshman finished 12 shy of the school record set by Big East career total offense leader Matt Grothe in 2007.
