Bradford says surgery still an option

Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford says surgery remains a possibility to repair his sprained right shoulder, depending on how his recovery goes.

Bradford, who won the Heisman Trophy last season, said Tuesday he hopes he can play Saturday against Baylor (3-1) to get a game under his belt before the annual rivalry battle against No. 2 Texas.

Bradford said he still intends to try to come back this season, and he’s still holding out hope that the 19th-ranked Sooners (2-2) could get back into the national championship race if they win out.

Bradford has sat out Oklahoma’s last three games because of a sprained AC joint in his right, throwing shoulder. He says he isn’t concerned that he could re-injure the shoulder, but won’t return until he can go through practice without having lingering soreness.

Regarding surgery, Bradford said: “Obviously, that’s a concern and it’s something that I’ve talked to my family about and I’ve talked to our coaches and something I’ve talked to the doctors about. But I still think that’s down the road.”

Tebow returns to practice for Gators

Florida quarterback Tim Tebow returned to practice on a limited basis, though he still has not been cleared to play Saturday when the top-ranked Gators travel to No. 4 Louisiana State.

Tebow was in full pads Tuesday and wearing a red non-contact jersey, which is normal for a quarterback. He was taking snaps with the first-team offense and throwing passes. The 2007 Heisman Trophy winner suffered a concussion in Florida’s last game against Kentucky on Sept. 26 when his head slammed into a teammate’s knee after he took a hard hit to the chest.

Wilson back for Boise State

Cornerback Kyle Wilson, the defensive leader and top punt returner for No. 6 Boise State, has returned to practice after missing last week’s game because of an injury.

Coach Chris Petersen said Wilson, a four-year starter who has 13 tackles this season, could have played Saturday against UC Davis, but coaches elected to keep him out to protect a strained shoulder.

Washington-BYU series is off

The Washington Huskies announced they canceled a future home-and-home series with Brigham Young and added Eastern Washington, a Football Championship Subdivision team, to their schedule in 2011.

It will be the first time in school history the Huskies will play a team from the FCS.

Minnesota center out for season

Minnesota center Jeff Tow-Arnett is out for the season because of a broken leg.

He was hurt late in Saturday’s loss to Wisconsin.
