The San Francisco 49ers have filed tampering charges against the New York Jets regarding top 49ers draft pick Michael Crabtree, Jets Coach Rex Ryan confirmed Monday.

“My understanding is they filed charges with the league,” Ryan said. “I’m saying my response is it’s not true. I mean, it’s not accurate. It’s not true, but, hey, we’ll let the league figure this out.”

When asked Monday if his team filed charges, 49ers Coach Mike Singletary said it’s a situation “the league is going to handle internally.”

The 22-year-old Crabtree, selected No. 10 overall by the 49ers in April’s draft, is the last draft pick not signed. The wide receiver is seeking money comparable to that received by higher picks and hasn’t accepted the 49ers’ offer for approximately five years and $20 million, with a reported $16 million guaranteed.

The tampering charges were first reported by the New York Daily News.

Hasselbeck hurt

The Seattle Seahawks are preparing to play without Matt Hasselbeck on Sunday against the Chicago Bears, though the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback is hoping to start despite a broken rib.

Seattle Coach Jim Mora confirmed that Hasselbeck has a fractured rib from a hard hit in the back by 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis while the quarterback dived for the goal line late in the first half of San Francisco’s win Sunday.

Backup Seneca Wallace, who started eight games last season when Hasselbeck was out because of a bulging disk in his back, would make the 13th start of his career if Hasselbeck can’t go.

Kolb could start

Kevin Kolb will make his second straight start for the Philadelphia Eagles if Donovan McNabb can’t play against Kansas City.

Coach Andy Reid isn’t sure whether Jeff Garcia or Michael Vick would be the backup quarterback in that scenario. Vick is eligible to play for the first time after serving a two-game suspension.

Barber injured

The Dallas Cowboys said running back Marion Barber has a quadriceps injury and the team doesn’t know when he’ll return.

Coach Wade Phillips said Barber had an MRI exam Monday, a day after he was hurt on a 35-yard run in the fourth quarter of the Cowboys’ loss to the New York Giants.

Gallery sidelined

Oakland Raiders right guard Robert Gallery is expected to sit out four to six weeks after undergoing surgery on a broken bone in his left leg.

Gallery was injured in the second half of Oakland’s victory in Kansas City on Sunday.

Coach Tom Cable says he has not decided who will replace Gallery.

Costly theft

Police are investigating a theft from the home of Buffalo Bills safety Donte Whitner, who discovered about $400,000 worth of jewelry missing following Sunday’s victory.

Hamburg (N.Y.) Det. Lt. Kevin Trask released few details because of the continuing investigation. He would not say whether there was evidence of a forced entry or when the theft might have happened.

He did not identify Whitner as the victim, confirming only that the theft was at the home of a Bills player.
