Sunland-Tujunga Watermelon Festival The juiciest festival kicks off another year with dozens of activities including carnival rides, a petting zoo, free watermelon-eating and seed-spitting contests, clowns, laser tag, waterslides, live music and a vendor village. Feel Good Film Festival Tired of analyzing “Inception’s” ambiguous ending? Jaded by smarmy romantic comedies where the guy doesn’t get the girl? The Feel Good Film Festival will soothe you. 48 Hour Film Project If traditional filmmaking is akin to a marathon, the 48 Hour Film Project is a sprint. Teams of intrepid movie makers will each be assigned a character, prop, line of dialogue and genre, all of which must be incorporated into a finished film within two days. Films are due Sunday at 7:30 p.m.; they will be screened Aug. 24-26 at the Laemmle Monica 4-Plex in Santa Monica.
