Lava Man’s trainer: A reader’s letter in Saturday’s Sports section took trainer Doug O’Neill to task for racing Lava Man after the horse had recovered from ankle injuries, accusing the trainer and Lava Man’s handlers of greed as motivation for running the horse again. The letter should not have run: O’Neill had said earlier, and it was reported in The Times, that any winnings from the race would be donated to charity. Also, the letter incorrectly gave the trainer’s last name as McNeil.

Seattle massacre: An article in Monday’s Section A, about an upcoming parole hearing for a man convicted of robbery and assault at a Seattle social club during a 1983 attack in which 13 were killed, was credited to McClatchy Newspapers. It should have been credited to the Seattle Times. Two codefendants are serving life sentences without possibility of parole.

Autism study: In Monday’s Section A, the headline on a brief article about a report in the journal Pediatrics said, “Panel finds diet won’t help autism.” The panel actually found, as the article said, there’s no rigorous evidence that digestive problems are more common in children with autism compared with other children, or that special diets work.

Las Delicias review: An incorrect phone number for Las Delicias restaurant in Van Nuys was published in a Find article in the Dec. 30 Food section. The correct number is (818) 988-8323.
