3 arrested in Beverly Hills stabbing

Beverly Hills police Wednesday announced the arrest of three suspects in the stabbing of the 21-year-old son of a Japanese filmmaker who was found fatally wounded outside a spacious hillside home in Trousdale Estates.

The deadly stabbing occurred in an exclusive Beverly Hills neighborhood unaccustomed to such violence.

The three suspects were booked on suspicion of murder and were being held Wednesday evening in the city jail, the Beverly Hills Police Department said. Their names were not released.

Detectives were still trying to determine why Katsutoshi Takazato was attacked Tuesday at the estate in the 1800 block of Carla Ridge. The property is owned by his father, Fuminori Hayashida, who produced several low-budget films in the 1990s, including “No Strings Attached” and “Red Meat.”

Since January 2007, there have been just three homicides reported in Beverly Hills, according to a database compiled The Times’ Homicide Report. During that span, not a single homicide had been reported within two miles of the exclusive Trousdale neighborhood where spacious mansions sold for up to $19 million this year.

Anyone with information regarding the crime is asked to call Beverly Hills detectives at (310) 285-2150.
