Rainbow Arabia Pan-global passport pop is the order of the moment in indie music, but this local duo does it with a verve and zest befitting the locales they draw from. Entrancing African long-form beats, Arabesque melodies and pillowy synths from European techno all collide in a delirious mess that comes out the other end as wholly original. Merce Cunningham Tribute benefits always want to charge you an arm and a leg, but in this case giving an arm or a leg to see some of the most famous arms and legs in modern dance is well worth it. In this special one-night benefit for the Cunningham Dance Foundation and REDCAT, Mikhail Baryshnikov will join the Cunningham Dance Company on the last night of its Legacy Tour in Los Angeles. In addition to a screening of Charles Atlas’ new film, “With Merce,” the evening will bring performances of “Occasion Piece” and excerpts of “Loops,” a Cunningham solo.
