The Ducks’ dwindling playoff hopes will dim quickly if they don’t take advantage of the seven-game homestand that started Sunday with a collapse against Montreal in a 4-3 shootout loss. They have yet to win in three games since the Olympic break, giving up four goals in each of those outings. Still, they appeared to improve their team at the trading deadline. If their Olympians can shake off their post-Vancouver hangover, they seemingly have an opportunity ahead, with Columbus one of four consecutive opponents at home that will be playing the second of back-to-back nights.
