Peek.com, a new site that helps tourists find and book activities, has added Los Angeles in its latest expansion.
The site is trying to do for tourist activities what Expedia.com does for booking flights and hotels. The site went live in parts of California and Hawaii in October, but it added results for Los Angeles this week.
Users traveling to Los Angeles or residents who are simply looking for something to do can go to the site and search for nightlife, sightseeing tours, restaurants, or arts and culture activities. Users can search based on the days they are traveling and where they’ll be staying.
Users who don’t want to search and just browse instead can check out the Peek Travel Guide found in the middle of the page, which will show the top-rated activities and information for Los Angeles.
Users can also check out “Perfect Days” that include daylong schedules of things to do that have been curated by various celebrities, including chef Wolfgang Puck, CNN host Piers Morgan and DJ Steve Aoki. Users can create their own “Perfect Days” for any city they want.
Chief Executive Ruzwana Bashir said this lets users organize their favorite locations and activities on aesthetically pleasing and interactive pages rather than relying on an assortment of emails from friends that could get lost. “Perfect Days” can be shared on social networks, printed out, commented on or re-planned by other users.
Once users have figured out what they want to do, they can book many of the activities on Peek.com. The site doesn’t offer any discounts or daily deals but Bashir said Peek.com has a best-price guarantee, meaning it doesn’t charge consumers an extra fee for booking through Peek.com.
Although the site shows results only for California and Hawaii right now, it will expand to New York, Las Vegas, Boston, Miami and Orlando this spring and London and Paris in the summer.
