Custom bike builder Arlen Ness celebrated at Petersen Museum
The custom creations of legendary motorcycle builder Arlen Ness will be celebrated at an upcoming birthday party and exhibit hosted by Los Angeles’ Petersen Automotive Museum.
The birthday bash starts Friday at 6 p.m., with a cocktails and dinner event at the Petersen. The exhibit begins Saturday at 9 and will continue until Sept. 8.
The Central California-based Ness began his design career in the 1960s, chopping and customizing Harleys. Known for his progressive design and outside-the-box engineering imagination, Ness is also a motorcycle entrepreneur whose online shop supplies bikers worldwide with customized parts for their Harleys, Victorys and other makes.

Tickets for the Friday dinner are $95 and can be obtained via the Petersen website. But parking for the exhibit is free and admission is two-for-one -- for anyone arriving by motorcycle at the Petersen on Saturday, from 9 to 2 a.m.
Ness himself will be on hand to sign autographs at 11 a.m.
The “Arlen Ness: Art on Two Wheels” exhibit will feature a collection of the artist’s signature motorcycle designs.
