Satellite radio company Sirius XM Radio Inc. is launching a rebranded political talk channel for left-leaning audiences next week called “SiriusXM Progress.”

The channel, formerly known as “SiriusXM Left,” will debut Monday and feature an afternoon call-in show hosted by Michelangelo Signorile, an editor at large for Huffington Post Gay Voices.

Media Matters senior fellow Ari Rabin-Havt will host a new morning show, and longtime civil rights activist Mark Thompson will continue his early evening show “Make It Plain.”

“Whether our audience agrees or disagrees, seeks out information or challenges what they hear, we now offer truly insider radio featuring progressive politics and perspective from veteran activists who have earned their stripes and are ready to take calls from listeners nationwide,” Jeremy Coleman, Sirius’ senior vice president of talk and entertainment programming, said in a statement.

Progressive radio talk shows have had difficulty gaining traction in a format traditionally dominated by conservative commentators.

Sirius XM has more than 25 million subscribers.
